Binders for Love is a program created by Trans* youth for Trans* youth! We help transgender youth who have unsupportive families, financial issues, or are simply in need by sending them new or pre-owned binders to help boost self-confidence, curb dysphoria, and decrease the use of dangerous binding methods. Dysphoria is a state of feeling unwell or unhappy, particularly over their gender or body. It can be crushing and push us to do unhealthy things to ourselves, whether that be self-harm or dangerous binding methods, such as ace bandages or duct tape. As part of the program, we also promote healthy binding. The use of ace bandages and duct tape restrict breathing and can cause fractured or broken ribs, not to mention skin bruising and irritation. By supplying Trans* youth with healthier binders, we can save many people from the pain of unhealthy binding and suffocating dysphoria.
